Ever since Ava was a baby, I've made an effort to be that mom who lets go and just lets her get messy. It's funny because now that she's a toddler and has her own views and opinions, she cannot stand messes. Weird for a kid, right?

She sees a piece of trash on the ground when we're out and about and immediately yells, "Uh oh!" and wants to pick it up. If she accidentally drops water on the ground, she has a mini freak out moment. And if there's anything on her hands (minus nail polish), she acts as though the world is coming to an end. You should've seen the look on her face when she saw her hands after dying Easter eggs last week. Let's just say, she was not excited about it but I couldn't stop giggling at her reaction.

Ava loves cleanliness and order (minus her toys all over the place) but I still think it's important to do activities that let her get messy, let go and just have some fun.

Whether you're growing a garden with your kids (which I highly recommend), letting them stomp in muddy rain puddles, feeding themselves when they don't know how to use utensils, painting or anything that involves creating a bit of a mess, here are:

7 reasons you should let your kids get messy

1. It grows their independence
2. You can then teach them hygiene and cleaning up afterward
3. Sparking and letting him/her explore all of their senses
4. It inspires creativity + imagination
5.
It strengthens their immune system (or so I've heard)
6.
It helps them gather information about the world around them
7.
It's fun! Fun = happiness and happiness is always a good thing.

And after the messy activity is done, the learning doesn't stop. Remember what I mentioned in Reason #2? Well now that begins! Not only do you now get to teach them how to clean up the things they made a mess with, but you can teach them to clean up themselves by washing their hands, a trait that will surely help them stay more healthy throughout the rest of their lives.

I don't know about your kids, but Ava loves playing in the sink and washing her hands and when we use Dial Complete® 2 in 1 Moisturizing & Antibacterial Foaming Hand Wash is double the fun because of that foam!

Can you tell how much she enjoys it?
