Preschool Homeschool Curriculum + Resources

If you follow us on Instagram, you probably heard that we got the sad news yesterday that Ava’s preschool will be closed next school year. We are SO bummed because we absolutely love her school and so does she. While the schools in our district still don’t have guidelines in place for school next year, we wouldn’t have sent Ava to school anyways if:

  1. the kids had to wear masks to school and

  2. she wouldn’t get play time with her friends.

And while I don’t know if that would have been the case, I feel that preschool is more about the “play” than the actual learning. And that’s how I want it to stay for her. Every day when I would pick Ava up from school, I would ask her what she did today and her response every single time would be - “I played with my friends!” And that is exactly what I wanted for her. She was definitely learning a ton, that was clear, but best of all she was getting social skills and she was having fun…. and this mama was getting a little break a couple times a week which was pretty cool too ;)

Long story short —

This year we will be homeschooling Ava to prep her for Kindergarten the following year. Based on her birthday, she will never attend TK so it’s now up to her mama teacher (ME!) to get her all prepped and ready for Kindergarten.

My biggest goal is that when she enters kindergarten, she is able to have fun and isn’t overwhelmed or stressed about what she’s learning. I want her first year of “real school” to be fun for her and less-stress equals more fun, if you ask me!

Now, I have no clue what I’m doing. I don’t know what she should know and never in a million years did I expect to be a homeschool mama but here we are and we are going to rock this…. hopefully. Good vibes, pretty please?

For those of you who will be homeschooling next year whether its preschool, TK or Kindergarten, here are all of the homeschool curriculums for preschoolers, some Christian-based homeschool curriculums and some great homeschool resources that you all sent my way. And if you have any others, please send them to me so I can add to this list for all of the families who are in the same boat as we are right now!

Cheers to my first year of teaching!
