The Mama Morning Shake

So here's the deal. Sometimes I just forget to eat, just like I forget about my hot coffee and then forget about my cold coffee, I forget to drink water and heck, sometimes I even forget to pee. Believe me, this never used to happen before I became a mom but I get so side tracked these days with Ava on the run and the minutes and the days and the weeks just flying by. So I'll be the first to admit that yes, sometimes I forget to eat.

...breakfast, that is.

Here's how our mornings usually go:

- Ava wakes up (aka my Ava alarm goes off)
- I nurse Ava
- We let Baxter out and feed him breakfast
- I stick Ava in the high chair for breakfast
- I pour myself a bowl of cereal and of course, add lots of milk

And then I think to myself, "Hey, Ava's in the high chair, nice and content. This is the perfect time to empty the dishwasher real quick before I eat."

...5 minutes later...

"Oh perfect, she's still eating. I'll just tidy up a bit before the Ava storm turns the house into a disaster again."

...10 minutes later...

"Okay, let me throw in a load of laundry real quick. It's the perfect time to do it!"

...mid putting clothes in the laundry...

Ava's done with breakfast and when she's done, she's done, if you know what I mean. I wipe her down, put her food away, take her out of the high chair and we're off to play, read, head out to soccer, ballet, gymnastics or a play date and meanwhile, my nice, soggy bowl of cereal is sitting there on the counter, patiently waiting to be washed down the sink.

Sound familiar?

So here's the deal -- Before Ava came along, I made a delicious shake almost every morning and I recently realized that I need to get back into that routine like ASAP. Because not eating breakfast (the most important meal of the day) isn't doing me any good. It's quick, it's easy, and I don't even measure anything out. And it's perfect because I can whip it up and take it on the go!

If you're looking for a quick, easy and delicious breakfast shake, here you go. And like I said, there are no measurements...just throw it all in to taste! None of us have time to measure anyways ;)

- milk
- chocolate flavored protein powder
- a spoon full of peanut butter
- rolled oats
- banana (I usually use half)

And then just like we sneak healthy foods into our kids' food, guess what? We can do the same for ourselves! Throw in some extra protein powder, collagen peptides or really anything to add a little extra boost to your daily nutrition!

Blend it all up and you've got a healthy and delicious breakfast shake. Mom win right there!

Happy Saturday everyone!
