The Sleep 22

The Sleep 22. It's what I've named our current sleep dilemma over here. You know, like a Catch 22 but with sleep...get it?

First of all, I'm not complaining because I know we have it far easier than most parents out there in the sleep department. But I do need some help, advice, well wishes or really anything you can offer us. Please send it our way and send it our way FAST.

So here's the dilemma:

About two months ago, Ava stopped napping. Just cold turkey, no naps, leaving this mama with no breaks during the day. No breaks means no time for me to work and no time for me to refresh. And that means late nights up working, which means I'm tired and grumpy...I think you get where I'm going with this. Naps are an important part of any mom's life and the fact that my almost 17-month-old decided that she didn't need to nap anymore just wasn't going to work for me. Not one bit.

But I'm smart, so I quickly thought of a solution to my problem: sports.

I signed Ava up for sports four days a week and it would've been five if there were any other sports out there for toddlers this young but four was going to have to do. In a perfect world, she would get worn out from all of her activities, nap every day, and I'd get my 1-2 hours of kid-free productivity time.

Guess what? It worked!

It worked like a charm and the naps are rolling on in. They're longer than they were before and they're now happening every single day. You heard that right, a 2-3 hour nap every single day. And those couple of hours are amazing for this mama, right here.

But now we've got a problem...

...and quite possibly a worse problem.

The naps start around 3:30ish because she doesn't get tired before then. So she wakes up at dinner time, eats dinner, and then she's ready to rock and roll the rest of the night...literally the rest of the night. That leaves two very tired parents spending 2-3 hours trying to get a screaming baby to sleep. Nope, not exaggerating one bit.

So now she gets her naps in but we have even later nights since she won't go to sleep when we try to put her to bed at 8pm.

So that's my problem. My very big Sleep 22 problem.

Help please? Pretty please?

Give me all of your sleep training tricks -- We will try them all until we find one that works! Thanks a bunch :)
