"Maternity sessions are a very special thing to me — I love capturing the happiness, affection and love shown by the wonderful mamas I have the pleasure of photographing. This particular maternity session was extra special to me since this beautiful mama is my best friend.

Jaclyn is already a mother to an adorable two-year-old boy, Mason, and is expecting her second son in March. As Jaclyn is a boy-mom and is constantly surrounded by boy-related things, she and I both wanted a photo session that was all about her and all things pretty and feminine.

As a quintessential California girl who loves spending time at the beach with her husband and son, we knew the beach would be the perfect location for her. We had visions of golden sun and warm sand—things we’ve become spoiled to in Southern California.

After months of planning her warm and sunny beach session, the weather took a turn for the very unexpected. It rained and rained (and rained) for weeks. The skies were dark and the temperatures were freezing. Even though we were a little discouraged, we decided to take a chance and still go for the sunny beach shoot we dreamt of--freezing temperatures or not.

As we approached the beach around 3:00 PM, the rain had stopped, the sun was coming out, and it was warming up. The water was perfect and full of cloud-like foam. We were aware that after a storm, the waters can create a foam that is safe to touch and walk in, but we had never seen this much before. Jaclyn looked like an ethereal mermaid as she twirled through the ocean "clouds", catching the attention of every passer-by at the beach who stopped to watch her dance in the waves, applaud her, and tell her how gorgeous she is." -- Elle Lily Photography and Videography
