I know we're still in January but I just looked at the calendar and Valentine's Day is less than three weeks away which is crazy. Just crazy. Time sure does fly when you have kids and you know what also flies when you have kids?

Money.

Ever since having Ava, money seems to fly out the door far faster than it did before -- diapers and activities and sports and let's not forget to mention, cute baby clothes. And on top of that, it seems like there's a holiday every other week, a birthday party to attend, or some sort of gift to buy. And with all of that gift buying (and regular every day buying), my idea of the perfect gift for moms has changed drastically.

I don't need diamonds or an expensive purse and you don't need to spend a lot of money on me. Something meaningful that truly shows you care is the perfect gift idea for a mom, in my eyes. And so, I'm kicking off our Valentine's Day gift guide series with today. Over the next four days, I'll be featuring Valentine's Day gift ideas for moms, dads, kids, friends and really anyone you love.

I know, most of you are moms so I'm preaching to the choir so just forward this URL along to your hubby or significant other as a little "hint hint."

First up:

Non-Materialistic Valentine's Day Gift Ideas for Moms (that cost less than $10)

1. Hand-Written Letters:

Materialistic gifts are great but something written from the heart, to me, is what means the most. It means that someone put thought into it and it means that someone took the time to write you a love letter from the heart. I've always been one to write hand-written letters no matter the holiday -- birthdays, anniversaries, thank you notes.

Last week I headed to Walmart to start shopping for special Hallmark Signature Cards for all of the special people in my life. And let me tell you, I found the absolute sweetest Hallmark Valentine's Day cards. They're seriously the coolest cards I've ever seen, no exaggeration. Just wait until you see all of them. I found tic-tac-toe cards (yes, the actual game board), 3D Hallmark Valentine's Day cards that are just so gorgeous, record cards (yes, real records that work!) and so many more. Scroll on down to see some of my favorites that I picked up for everyone, and make sure to check out the Hallmark Valentine’s Day hub for more inspiration and to find a store near you!

2. Cook Dinner

3. Breakfast in Bed

4. A Chore Book from the Kids or Husband

Laundry, dishes, a big bear hug, a night off from cooking dinner, a car wash, or a day to sleep in -- Those are all coupons I'd love to receive :)

5. A Painting from the Kids

6. A Kid-Free Hour

...even if that means just an hour to wander through Target...alone...with a coffee in hand, of course.

7. Printed Photos

A canvas print, small photo album, or even a couple of small prints from your favorite memories together (you can add those into the Hallmark card as a little extra bonus for her)

8. A Hand-Baked Delicious Treat

Chocolate covered strawberries, anyone?

9. A Memory Jar

Fill a jar with all of your favorite memories with mom, or reasons why you love her, so she can pull them out, one at a time, whenever she needs a smile.

10. Movie Night at Home (with or without the kids)

No matter what you choose as your Valentine's Day gift idea for mom this year, make sure that hand written letter on a beautiful Hallmark Signature Card from Walmart is included. I promise, it'll leave her smiling from ear to ear and it's the perfect way to show you how much you love her...no material gift needed.

From January 29th through February 14th, you can earn $1 back through Ibotta at Walmart on any Hallmark Valentine's Day cards priced $2.97 and up, while supplies last. There’s also a coupon in aisle at Walmart for $2 off 3 Valentine’s Day cards or more. Ready, set, copy and paste this post URL, send it to your hubby and send him off to Walmart for his Valentine’s Day prep!
