So apparently Ava's less than 24 hours crazy high fever from last week wasn't only 24 hours.

It's BACK.

And my heart is breaking into a million pieces. She's got a stuffy nose and the worst cough I've ever heard. Last night when she was trying to fall asleep, she coughed for a good 20 minutes. That poor thing :(

We got out of the house yesterday for a quick trip to Starbucks and she had a cough attack while we were there, getting us lots of looks from all over the store. And honestly, I don't blame them! I was burying her head in my chest, hoping to get all of her cough all over me instead of in the air and meanwhile, she was fighting me like a beast to cough into the air. So let's just say, we're not trying that again today.

We're staying home all day today so we don't infect the rest of the world and it's just 8:47am and I'm totally freaking out about being cooped up all day because let me tell you, yesterday wasn't pretty. Ava stopped screaming/crying for maybe 10 minutes the entire day (minus her 1 hour nap), she didn't want me to pick her up, didn't want me to put her down, didn't want to eat, didn't want me to touch her, didn't want me to talk to her but yet, continued to scream and scream and scream.

It wasn't fun. At all.

I yelled at her, immediately felt like the worst mom in the world, bawled my eyes out which made her cry even more so yeah...let's just hope today is a better day. Ava is currently still asleep, which is crazy but I'm scrambling to get as much work done as I possibly can before the scream-fest begins.

So I made a list of things we can to today while we're cooped up inside. And these are all fun things to do with kids on a rainy day/snow day/sick day:

1. Unicorn Slime -- If you've never done this before, you need to NOW. I don't know who had more fun, myself or Ava. It takes about 1 minute to make, you probably have most of the ingredients already at your house and it's endless fun even after it's made! Just make sure you store it in a ziplock bag or container to keep it nice and soft overnight!

2. Indoor Treasure Hunt -- You can use can notes or candy or Target dollar section toys as the hidden prizes!

3. Bubble Bath or Bath Bombs -- ...because those are always fun!

4. Make a Fort -- I don't know about you but forts are my jam!

5. Bake -- Cookies or brownies or really any dessert sounds good to me right about now!

6. Write A Storybook -- Let your kids' imaginations run wild. Let them tell you the story as you write it out and then finish it off with pictures on each page!

7. Paper Bag or Sock Puppets -- And then of course you need to have a puppet show too!

8. Karaoke -- ...with Disney songs, of course.

9. Learning Apps -- I know that the iPad is the last thing you want your kids doing inside all day but if you find some fun learning apps, it's well worth it and will keep them busy! Who knew learning could be fun?

10. Make your own Movie Theater -- Popcorn, snacks, lights out and you've got the perfect at home movie theater!

11. Paper Airplanes -- And have a contest to see whose can go the furthest, the fastest, etc.

12. Have A Tea Party -- And you can even get all dressed up for it and have your kids do your makeup!

13. At Home Spa -- You get pampered by the kids and they have some fun. Now that's a win-win situation if I've ever heard of one!

14. Make your own Instruments -- And then have a concert!

15. Fashion Show -- Let the kids look through your closet and put on a fashion show for you!

16. Freeze Dance -- or musical chairs or really anything active!

17. Make Popsicles -- Juice, fruit, a stick and voila! you've got yourself a homemade popsicle!

P.S. I'd highly recommend snagging a Gathre mat for all of this fun. They keep your hardwood floors from getting drawn on, they keep play dough out of the carpets and really, they just prevent your house from getting messy and wipe up nice and easily with water!
