Father's Day Gift Ideas (he'll actually use)

I love buying funny little gadgets and gizmos as gifts or old toys that bring back childhood memories. But let's be honest -- They're funny and they make people smile but they end up in a drawer, never to be used again. You see, I'm never going to stop buying those fun little gizmos as gifts but I decided I wanted to create another Father's Day Gift Guide with a list of Father's Day gifts he will actually use.

So that's why I'm here...

We did a little Macy's shopping spree for Father's Day this year and he could not have been more excited. I know, I know -- Father's Day is next week but I can never contain my excitement and always give my gifts early. I know, it's so silly but I do it every single time. (oops!)

It's usually the last thing on my mind as something to buy as a guft but let me tell you why clothes are probably the best Father's Day gift idea:

1. Clothes will always be a necessity.

...unless you move to a nudist colony, that is. I can't even count how many old, ripped shirts we've got hanging in the closet. They're stained or stretched out from being washed over and over for 11 years. Whether it's new boxers or socks or jackets, shirts, ties or shoes, the possibilities are endless and quite necessary, if you ask me.

2. Kill two birds with one stone.

He's gotta buy it anyways (eventually) so might as well double up and buy the necessities as gifts! Well, at least I think that's smart thinking.

3. Make it an experience!

For some of you, maybe you want to be the one doing the shopping but for us, we have fun shopping together. My husband's got great style and he's also super picky about how things fit so this time we made it a fun date and went shopping together! We picked things out (like a million and one things), he tried them all on and we decided together what he was going to get! And then we ended the night with some dinner together too :) So yes, you can combine "things" and "experiences" as gifts -- the best of both worlds.

Gifts don't always have to be unique and crazy creative. I mean, whenever you get a gift from your spouse you're spending your own money, so might as well spend it on something useful that he's going to need (and buy eventually) anyways, right? Scroll on down to see everything we snagged (and pretty much everything was on sale too which made it so much more fun!). And even better, you can get everything you need at Macy's online or in store.

Shopping for everything you need in one place? Yes, please!
